Custom waldorf softie doll

Recently I had a request for a softie doll from a customer who had previously purchased one for her niece. Apparently, the doll was so well loved that another was wanted. We decided to make a "sister" for the first doll and I just happened to have enough of this cute green mushroom fabric left to keep the mushroom theme going.

Here is the original. I think they make great sisters and I hope that the new doll will be as well loved as the old :)

If you like this style of doll I have 2 tutorials on how to make your own. The first tutorial is here and the second is here.

Oh, and a reminder that the 500 likes celebration giveaway is still running - you can win some lovely hand dyed yarn by entering here.

And you can choose from any of my existing colourways.

You can view my current colourways here.

*Open to Australian residents only.

The winner of the giveaway is.....

Random integer tells me number 2 is the winner - Sue Elvis! Here is Sue's comment:

"Oh this hard! I like all your items. You are very talented. If I have to mention just one, it would be the "dusky heath" 8ply merino. The soft dusky colours are more 'my' colours than brighter ones, suiting my red haired complexion. Saying this, I haven't knitted myself anything in a long time. There always seems to be a daughter who needs a new cardigan more than me!

Congratulations on your nearly 800th blog post. I'm pleased to see your FB page is so popular too. I love visiting to look at your latest work.

I'll share your post on FB. I hope you get lots of visitors to your blog. Thank you for having a give-away!"

Thank you so much to all who entered and congratulations Sue!

It's been really fun to have another giveaway, perhaps I won't leave it so long before I do another this time.

God bless you all :)

Warm colours

The weather has turned wintery in Melbourne today and what a perfect time for the postman to bring good tidings with warm colours!

All of these beautiful things were sent to me by Baukje as I was lucky enough to win her blog giveaway recently. There are some truly beautiful and very useful treasures in that parcel, thank you so much Baukje!
And another timely arrival on a day where I've largely been shut inside - my favourite embroidery magazine :)

I spent some time warming my fingers by rolling a hank of Nell's lovely wool into a ball in preparation for a little something.

I hope you find a happy craft to warm your fingers and your heart today. Until next time!

A good week with generous people

I was the lucky winner of Hilary's giveaway recently and received the parcel today. Some beautiful charm squares for small projects.

And this I really love.

A gorgeous sewing kit, just look at the inside. It has a scissors keep, pin cushion, needle keeper and zippered pouch for extras.
Trust me Hilary, this will be very well used!

I also received not one but 2 boxes of Seton books from a virtual stranger. These books are worth so much money and are in great condition. They also happen to suit the level my son is at. I've always wanted to try quality Catholic curriculum but the cost has always been something that restricted me, so these books are truly the answer to my prayers.

I would like to say thank you and God bless all you generous people out there :)

A lovely vintage giveaway...

Visit my clever crafty friend Baukje for a giveaway where you get to choose from two beautiful vintage prize packs!

"I just can't take it anymore!" book review and giveaway

Anthony Destefano has a new book and it's a little different to his other works. Each page has a comical photo of children along with encouraging text for those feeling discouraged. It's a lighthearted look at life, it's problems and the way we deal with them. It's also a reminder that a good sense of humour, along with trust in God will go a long way when we experience conflict.

The book would make a great gift.

You can read more about the book here and the press release is here.

I have one copy to giveaway, unfortunately there is a small tear in one page, courtesy of my over enthusiastic toddler!
Sorry, this giveaway is open to Australian residents only :)

Just leave a comment to enter and I'll draw the winner on Tuesday.

Sorry about that, here is the winner...

Things got very busy here over the weekend with a Christmas party and my Stumpwork Assessment today (seems to have gone well!) so I didn't draw the winner on Saturday as promised. Without further ado, the winner is....

Christmas giveaway

I decided not to have a Christmas giveaway this year but then I changed my mind because that's what I do. So, I'm giving away this lovely doll 12 inch doll who is special in a few ways.

Her hair is made from hand dyed yarn (dyed by Nell). Her dress is hand dyed by me, as is her silk cape. Her pants were hand painted by my son. Plus, she's pretty cute! She is waldorf influenced, made with natural materials and stuffed with wool.

The giveaway is open to all who follow this blog (new followers are always welcome :) Just leave a comment. For a second entry please "like" my facebook page and then return here to leave another comment telling me you've done so. Open to international visitors too.
I'll draw on Saturday 26th November. Good luck!
