Interview with Platypus Yarns

I'm very excited to have been interviewed by Platypus Yarns! Please hop on over to read the full interview where I talk weaving and fibre related stuff as well as give a few tips for beginners.

And here is a sneak peek for you of what I'm currently working on, I'm going for big texture!

I'm featured!

On the Schooling at Home Etsians group blog today, where I'm also a contributor. Have a look here!Visit Our Shops

Really inspiring

I've been participating in a couple of blog themes each Friday (Saturday here is Oz.)
If you're looking for some beautifully inspiring projects, tutorials or just eye candy check out these links (you'll see me in there somewhere too!).

The Magic Onions - Friday's Nature Table

Natural Suburbia - Friendship Friday

Thanks for your recent kindly comments, I think I'm on the mend now and I'm planning on making my hands busy today (at the sewing table of course!)

Wishing you many blessings this weekend.
Just came across this GardenMama's blog for the first time and was really struck by her beautiful photos and surroundings. Well worth a look.

A little update

I've been on bedrest for a few days with that awful pregnancy muscle pain again that means I can't stand or sit for long, but lying down is fine. Not terribly practical when you have 3 children and a house to run! Thankfully husband has had a couple of days off work to help so I can rest.

I managed to knit this little fellow in a semi reclining position:). Its hard to find things to do other than reading (no sewing!) Less than 5 weeks to go now, I wish it could be tomorrow.......

Go and check out this fabulous giveaway on the Australian Etsy Blog , so many wonderful prizes to choose from, I've entered!

Look what I won!

This lovely apron on the Mia Henry blog giveaway, it just arrived yesterday and I must say it is beautifully crafted, the photo I have here does it no justice whatsoever. The apron looks quite comical on my 33 week pregnant frame (that is to say - I'm HUGE!) but I can still do up the ties at the back. Go and check out Rachelle's blog and shop, she has some really cute things for sale.
Thankyou Rachelle!

Gorgeous outfit

Had to share once I saw this little outfit at Heather's blog its so lovely, I'd love for my girls to have some outfits like that (not sure about the white t-shirt though, it wouldn't be white for long). I've been off sewing for the kids for a while as I find dressmaking so challenging, but I'm itching to get back into it now. I'm attempting a pretty vintage nightie first. One thing that dollmaking has taught me is just how much you can improve when you work at something. I'm too inclined to give things away if I find them hard.
I'll have to start getting my Crafty Mamas swap ready, its a fun one this month - fill a jar with crafty goodness. I've got a few ideas!

Dolls

Well, most of the day was spent dollmaking, after the usual housework drudgery was satisfactorily (half) complete. My doll inspiration seems to have returned with a vengeance, I only lament the lack of time compared to the number of ideas. Just came across the Froken Skicklig blog, how gorgeous are her dolls?! (not to mention her other work). What does she use for hair? How does she get her dolls to look so warm? Aren't the little knitted caps beautiful? Can you tell I get excited when I find dolls I love?

Happy Saturday all!

Wool felt rabbit

Here is what I came up with yesterday, I would make changes to the pattern if I make any more. The kids were competing over who was to be the new owner, but the boy won out. Unfortunately the rabbit was declared "too stiff" for snuggling in bed with!

I've been checking out the Duggar's website, this family has inspired me for a long time, truly wondrous.

I hope you enjoy your weekend in peace and joy. God bless you all.

Today is Saturday

I just realised I have 100 posts on here now, makes me think its nearly time for another giveaway. Hmm, I'll have to set my mind to that one.

I went to a craft market this morning, it was interesting but not overly impressive. Once you know how to sew and craft yourself it really changes the way you look at the things people make to sell. I can't help thinking "I could make that so easily!" and generally find the standard of work medium to low. On the other hand, some stalls are of a very high standard. I guess it would be different if you were attending craft markets in a wealthy suburb, of which my suburb is certainly not and shoppers tend to look for bargains.

I've put the link for Little Jenny Wren here before, but I think it deserves another printing. Not only are her dolls magnificent, her blog very interesting and her surroundings beautiful - she is also a really nice person!

Stuff

Oops, just realised how long it is since my last post! I've been spending less time at the computer lately which I think is a good thing. I was just stuffing some dolls (4 on the go at the moment!) but got fed up with the poor light and sore back, so here I am.
I just came across the blog belonging to Little Jenny Wren, a fellow doll maker and lover, her little knitted dolls outfits are just beautiful. I must learn to knit one day!
While I'm here I will request prayers that are much needed for our politicians. Within the next couple of weeks a bill may be passed that will decriminalise abortion. The most shocking part of this bill, if it is voted in, is that it would allow abortions up to full term! Please pray for the politicians who support this bill - that they may have a change of heart and for the politicians who don't support it- that they stay strong in their convictions.

Bible study

Bethany's blog put me onto some bible study materials that I've been using. I find them excellent, and best of all they are FREE! You can find them here
