A successful barter and a whinge!
Remember my post about bartering? Here is what I received in the mail today, thank you Gilly, what a welcome parcel! I don't own many crafting books, so you've just doubled my collection. I just love surprises!
Now for the whinge. I picked up my sewing machine yesterday after it jammed and had to wait a week whilst it was (apparently) repaired. Naturally, I was very eager to use it yesterday, but what with h.schooling starting back today I had a lot to organise. Anyway...... I managed to steal a few moments earlier to work on a skirt, and, lo and behold - it's still jammed!!
This is the point where I had to stem my natural inclination to run to the phone to ask the repairer if there had been a misunderstanding, as in - I give you $80, you give me fixed machine. Yes I appreciate your dusting my machine, after all it was a bit dusty, but I actually wanted to use it not just look at it. Ok, Ok, now I'm getting snitchy, but surely not without justification?!
On a lighter note, our first day back at h.school after the hols' went brilliantly despite a toddler with a tummy upset and it has generally been a very good day.
Off to the sewing centre I go............

Oh Im so happy that you are happy! I was worried it would not be enough - Im cant wait to see what you make from the goodies.
xx Gilly
Lovely little package.
Oozing sympathy for you!. This is the second time in a few months I've been sewing machine-less. Hope you get it going soon. I have some hand piecing I can go on with, but I love the way things come together so quickly on the machine.
Gilly is a love isn't she. Popped by to say hello.

Great barter! And I feel for you on the machine front. Late last year I took my overlocker into the shop. I explained that it was making awful noises and sounded like it was dying. They rang the next day to say it was ready. I picked it up and after 1 day it jammed completely. I took it back and they said "oh it worked when tried it so we cleaned it" LOL, ummm ok that was nice now can you FIX it??? Next time I picked her up she was humming.
I finished my skirt, albeit very badly, so pop over and see when you have a chance.
I like the h.schooling updates, can't wait to see what you are up to.
What a lovely parcel to recieve. I TOTALLY sympathise on the sewing machine issue - it's happened to me as well. VERY frustrating when you go without your right arm for a week (my guy took 3 weeks!)and they don't even do what needs to be done.
